PATRIATA (NEW MURREE): NAME

 According to people living there, this place is known as Patriata due to a minor misundersatnding of a foreigner who happened to visit this place before the independence of Pakistan and he didn't know the name of this beautiful point, So he asked an old lady who was passsing with pot of flour on her head and didn't understand English language. She thought that the man was asking about her pot. So she answered him in Punjabi/Panjistani "Puttar, Atta" which means in English "Son, (it is) Flour". Till that day, This place was named Patraita that is similar to "Puttar Atta".

The highest point where the hills stand about 7,500 feet above sea level, is located in Northern Punjab, Pakistan. If you are going from Murree to Patriata thorugh Muzaffarabad road, the distance will be about 15.8 km (approximately 38 min).

This is the must visited hill station if you are going to Murree. The climate here is much cooler than further south.The best time to visit is July and August. Just be careful in winters because of snowfall.

Gulehra Gali (a village in Murree Tehsil, Rawalpindi District, Punjab, Pakistan) is the base station for Patriata chair lift. The chair lifts and cable cars are used for taking you to the highest point of mountain. The area is heavily forested with tall trees and lush green hills and is also populated with many monkeys and leapords, accessible by chair-lift or cable-car . You can enjoy the chair lift or cable car in only Rs 200 per person. It has world class Sky ride of international standard.Many tourists visit daily for the panoramic view. You can also go to that highest point by the car as well, the road is narrow but safe.
