Royal Fort (Shahi Qilla) is situated as the hoistoric core of LAHORE,PAKISTAN.Royal Fort (Shahi Qilla) is spread over an area of about 20 hectares.It is important to note that Royal Fort (Shahi Qilla) was rebuilt in the 17th century (during the MUGHAL EMPIRE).

Royal Fort (Shahi Qilla) contains 21 notable monuments.Shahi Qilla covers the Mughal monuments of the reign periods of EMPEROR AKBAR, SHAH JHAN , JAHANGIR and AURANGZEB .The Uwas inscribesd, in 1981, as a UNESCO World Heritage site because of its "OUTSTANDING REPERTOIRE" of Mughal monuments.

Royal Fort :Akbari Gate
Akbari Gate was built during Akbar's reign, was the original entrance to the Royal Fort.It is located on Eastern side of Lahore Fort. It is also known as Maseeti Gate as the historic Maryam Zamani Mosque is just opposite to it. Akbari Gate has vast entrance for the passage of elephants.

Royal Fort : Jharoka-e-Darshan
There is also balcony-cum-throne that is called Jharoka-e-Darshan, where the Mughal emperors appeared daily, until the time of Aurangzeb.

Royal Fort: Kala Burj
In the northwest corner of Khilwat khana, is Kala Burj (Black pavilion), was used as summer pavilion. The Tower's decoration also portrays Jahangir's fascination with painting, particularly his attempts at encouraging Mughal court artists to paint according to the themes and style of Renaissance painters.

In the northeast corner of the Khilawat Khana, stands the Lal Burj (Red Pavilion), octagonal in shape.

Royal Fort: Picture Wall
The monumental Picture Wall depicts a myriad of subjects, including elephant fights, angels, and polo games, etc.

Royal Fort: Khawab-gaah of Jahangir
Jahangir Quadrangle is bordered on its northern edge by Jahangir's sleeping chambers.
Shah Jahan prettified this Royal Fort by luxurious marble with inlaid Persian floral designs.The distinctive Shah Jahani style is reflected in the extensive use of white marble, and hierarchical accents of the construction.
Royal Fort: The Diwan-e-Aam
The beautiful construction of the Diwan-E-Aam, in the style of a Chehel Sotoun, forty pillars public audience hall.It was used as a hall for the emperors to hold audience with commoners.

Royal Fort: Diwan-e-Khas
The Diwan-E-Khas served as a hall where the Emperor would attend to matters of the state, and where courtiers and state guests were received.
Royal Fort: Sheesh Mahal
"The Palace of Mirrors" is among the best known monuments of Lahore Fort. It was constructed under the reign of Shah Jahan. The most worth-seeing aspect of this Mahal is the complex mirror-work known as 'ayina kari'.

Royal Fort: Summer Palace
The Summer Palace, also known as the "Pari Mahal" or "Fairy Palace", is a labyrinth of chambers. They were used as a residence during hot weather because of the effective ventilation system and, of course, the flooring system of this palace was amazing to keep it cool- its floors were made of two layers that were separated by a layer of water pumped in from the Ravi River.Cool water perfumed by roses flowed through a descriptive system of 42 waterfalls and cascades throughout the Summer palace.

Royal Fort: Khilwat Khana
Khilwat Khana was the residence of the royal ladies of the court. The plinth and door frames are made of marble with a curvilinear roof.

Shah Jahan was a romantic person who constructed Taj Mehal in Agra, India and after that this masterpiece in Lahore as a small summer house costing about Nine Lakhs Rs.

The white marbled "Moti Masjid" or "Pearl Mosque", was also built in the Shah Jahan period. It is located on the western side of Lahore Fort, closer to Alamgiri Gate. It was an established practice among Mughal emperors to name the mosques after generic names for gemstones.
- Royal Fort: Aurangzeb Alamgir
The last of the great Mughal emperors, Aurangzeb Alamgir, Who enhanced its beauty and charm with the iconic Alamgiri Gate and, of course, ornamented this fort with the beautiful Badshahi Masjid(one of the Lahore's Most iconic landmarks).

Royal Fort: Badshahi Masjid
Badshahi Masjid is the 2nd largest masjid in Pakistan.It exists as one of the grand imperial mosques of the Mughal-era.It is famous for the carved marble and elaborate plasterwork that are used throghout the Interior of this Masjid.
