Khewra Salt-Mine was discovered by Alexander's troops in 320 B.C. This Salt-mine is Located in Pind Dadan Khan Tehsil of Jhelum District (about 160 km from Islamabad).

Khewra Salt-mine has alsp a rest house for tourists. There are up to 250,000 visitors a year and approximately 220 MILLION TONS of rock salt deposits.

Khewra Salt-mine is good to visit by a train that is an electric train and works with historical Engine of 1930's. So you can buy a ticket from the outside gate of Salt-mine and Go!

The temperature inside the Khewra Salt-mine  remains about 18–20 °C throughout the year. Dr. H. WARTH (Mining Engineer) developed the ground level to access the salt layers (1872). It comprises nineteen stories, of which about eleven are below ground.

Khewra Salt-mine:  An ASTHMA CLINIC -Salt THERAPY- for the patients of Asthma and other respiratory diseases. According to a research, salt particles diffuse naturally from the walls into the air help asthma patients to cure.
