Lahore Museum is full of wonders as The Wonder House of Lahore. Lahore Museum is highly regarded for its unique collection of Buddhist art from the ancient Indo-Greek and Gandhara kingdoms. Lahore Museum is one of the most visited place of Lahore. It is the oldest museum of Pakistan.

Lahore Museum was found in 1865 during the period of British colonial. It was shifted to its present building on The Mall, in 1894. The present building of Lahore Museum was designed by a very talented architect of Lahore, Sir Ganga Ram.

The Lahore Museum has unique and woth-seeing history of Indo-Greek ,Mughal and Gandhara etc. It has a number of Greek-Buddhist sculptures and important and unique relics of Indus Valley civilization. It displays the various stages of pre and pro history of human beings. It also exhibits different objects from Harappa and Mohenjodaro. Also fine specimens of carved woodwork of Mughal and Sikh can be seen in this Lahore Museum. The wonderful collection of musical instruments, pottery, statues, images, textiles, armory, ancient jewellery and Mughal and Pahari paintings are also on display for visitors. There is also a photo gallery dedicated to the Pakistan Movement. Lahore Museum has the largest collection of coins of about 40,000 pieces. Scholars from all over the world feel mesmerized after seeing the richness of the largest collection of coins.

LAHORE MUSEUM: ZAMZAMA GUN

The Zamzama Gun is displayed in front of the Lahore Museum.The Zamzama Gun is also known as Kim's Gun. It is made of copper and brass. There are also inscriptions with the date of manufacture, names of the monarch and the technician along with verses in Persian. With a bore at its aperture of about 9.5 inches, the gun is about 14 feet 4.5 inches in length.It is one of the largest gun ever made in the sub-continent. Some important things to know about this gun is that it was constructed by the fund of the people of Lahore. This special gun was used  in the Panipat war in 1761 by Ahmed Shah who left it at Lahore on his way back to Kabul. The Zamzama gun  was used in many battles after 1761 , and after being severely damaged it came back to Lahore.

Lahore Museum also has a photo gallery containing the history of the emergence of Pakistan on the map of the world,through paintings, photographs and newspaper cuttings etc. Different sections of gallery display different angles of Pakistan, the stories of brave Pakistanis who sacrificed everything for the Pakistan. The photographic stories of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, Allama Iqbal, Quaid-e-Azam,Maulvi Fazal-e-Haq etc. There is also a particular last section of photo gallery assigned to show the heroes of the armed forces of Pakistan who won the highest military award "Nishan-e-Haidar" of Pakistan.
