LAHORE ZOO

LAHORE ZOO is one of the largest ZOO in PAKISTAN. LAHORE ZOO is considered as the third/fourth oldest ZOO of the world. LAHORE ZOO is home of about 1300 animals of 135 species including birds, mammals and reptiles in LAHORE ZOO.

It's history is quite interesting as it statrts from a small aviary that was donated by Lal Mahundra Ram to the Municipal Committe of LAHORE in March, 1872. So, LAHORE ZOO was established in 1872 in Mall road, LAHORE, Punjab, Pakistan.With the passage of time, LAHORE ZOO expanded and become a recreation source for the public and later on it also took interest in research field. Now, It is under the management of Forest, Wildlife and Fisheries Dept of the Govt PAKISTAN.

 A lot of species are in LAHORE ZOO to see and enjoy with your children. At the very start of the LAHORE ZOO, is the oldest section of the ZOO where you can see how with an aviary LAHORE ZOO takes a start. Here one can see bird cages, home of parrots, peafowl, partridges, western crowned pigeons etc. At the end of this section, home of jackals, tortoises and crocodiles. There is also lake where different species of waterfowls can be seen including swans, duck, pelicans, etc.

The sad news about elephant in LAHORE ZOO is that there is now no elephant in the ZOO to have a ride on it. Because the only elephant in the ZOO was Suzi and its no more. :( but don't worry you can have a camel ride there....

LAHORE ZOO: MONKEY & CHIMPANZEE HOUSE
In the monkeys' house, you can enjoy seeing monkeys of different kinds like spider monkeys, vervet monkeys etc, doing naughty things to make children and visitors laugh :D... The building of chimpanzee's house is home of chimpanzee and also a temporary residence for various species of cats, baboons and cheetahs etc.

LAHORE ZOO has complex of lion with three buildings with cages for the wild animals such as lions, bear, tigers and pumas etc. The first building is home of Bengal tigers and pumas, second one has lions and last is for balck bears. LAHORE ZOO also has reptile section where animals like vipers, pythons and cobras live.There is also a small natural hill, a home for the mouflons, blackbucks and urials. There are also many different species of deer, zebras, ostrich,nilgai etc. There is also a special section housing hippos and rhinoceros.

There, you have a lot of things to enjoy... seeing the creatures of different kinds of animals,  have electronic kiddy rides, can have drinks or whatever you want to eat on the benches under umbrellas. There is also a safari park to have more fun and enjoyment in Lahore.You can also take selfies with the statues of various animals in LAHORE ZOO ;D
